No, the magnetic poles currently block the solar flare that come towards it. Only a small percentage of it ever gets by (<.01%). The shit that gets by is through the north and south pole. That's how you get the shit called 'Northern Lights' If our poles shift when epic solar flares are occurring, we will look hotter than mercury.

I dunno if the northern lights are the same what they call auroras but they do see those in alaska.
